Fertility Testing

We understand infertility and recurring miscarriage can be both distressing and frustrating for those involved. There is an identifiable reason for 80% of infertility cases, with 30% of cases being attributed to female factors, 30% to male factors, 20% to a combination of male and female factors leaving only 20% unexplained. There are many different reasons for infertility, but we hope to diagnose most reasons why natural conception may be difficult with the relevant tests.

Following an initial consultation, if deemed relevant, you (and your partner) will likely undergo tests and investigations to determine any root causes of infertility. Our diagnostic infertility tests help couples who are having problems conceiving. Understanding what is hindering your fertility will enable your consultant to recommend the most successful course of action.

Tests may include internal tests to check for blocked tubes, ovulation tests and ultrasound scans of the pelvis to check for any abnormalities, in addition to semen analysis. To find out more information on the fertility tests we use, please click on each title below:

Private GP at The Surrey Park Clinic
Initial Consultation

Before any testing is carried out, you will have an initial consultation with one of our specialist fertility consultants to ensure they have a thorough understanding of your medical and fertility history.

Hormone and Reproductive Immunology Tests

The Surrey Park Clinic offers a comprehensive range of tests to establish the cause of infertility by analysing the blood and immune system.

Semen Analysis

This test looks for antibodies in semen that can damage or kill the sperm resulting in reduced motility, interfering with egg fertilisation. Higher levels of anti-sperm antibodies make it harder for the sperm to fertilise an egg.

Hysterosalpingo Contrast Sonography (HyCoSy)

Hycosy can reveal blocked fallopian tubes, one of the most common causes of infertility. A referral is required.

Following the test results, if you require fertility treatment, your consultant will advise the best fertility option for you, e.g. In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF), Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), Intrauterine Insemination (IUI), Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET), Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) or another course of action.

We work in association with King’s College Hospital for egg collection and embryo transfer. Your treatment and appointments will take place at The Surrey Park Clinic.

Throughout your treatment, you will have direct access to your consultant, and our fertility nurses will also be available to support you.
